Position Overview:
Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a qualified teacher, preferably with experience in an independent secondary school setting. The Innovation faculty member will inspire students through engaging, hands-on instruction in engineering, computer science, and design thinking. The successful candidate will cultivate creativity, analytical reasoning, collaboration, and problem-solving while preparing students to thrive in an increasingly technological world. This educator will contribute to the school's Center of Excellence in Innovation by developing interdisciplinary learning experiences, mentoring student projects, fostering partnerships with industry and higher education, and supporting extracurricular opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Course offerings span introductory through Advanced Placement® levels, providing rigorous learning opportunities for students of varying experience and ability. Instruction is delivered in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Chair of the Mathematics and Informatics Department. Courses for this position include, but may not be limited to, Foundations of Computer Science - exploring hardware and software, Programming Application & Design, AP® Computer Science A and AP® Computer Science Principles, Engineering & Design, and Robotics. An undergraduate degree in Engineering / Computer Science or a related field is necessary. In addition, the school seeks a candidate who has knowledge and experience in using educational technology in the classroom. ClearTouch Technology is utilized to facilitate multimodal instruction.
Qualifications:
All teacher candidates are expected to have either experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework. Preferred candidates must enjoy working with adolescents, have an ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum, and understand student learning styles and differentiated instruction.
Additional Responsibilities:
In addition, the full-time position includes advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, and involvement in residential life, understanding that the typical commitment involves both after-school activities and weeknight-weekend supervision.
