Spanish Teacher -Elementary/Middle School

Unquowa School, an independent PreK–8 school in Fairfield, Connecticut, seeks a warm, creative, and student-centered Spanish Teacher to work with students in PreK through Grade 5.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who understands how language learning can be joyful, active, and developmentally appropriate. The ideal candidate is nurturing, flexible, and able to meet students at a range of language levels while helping them build confidence, curiosity, and enthusiasm for Spanish.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish classes for students in PreK through Grade 5.
• Support language acquisition through conversation, movement, music, stories, games, hands-on activities, and cultural exploration.
• Differentiate instruction for students with varying levels of Spanish language experience.
• Create a supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and taking risks.
• Collaborate with colleagues, communicate thoughtfully with families, and participate in the life of the school.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of teaching experience, preferably with elementary-aged students.
• Strong understanding of modern language instruction, including teaching primarily in the target language.
• Experience with hands-on, inquiry-based learning and differentiated instruction.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
