Department: Academics – English
Reports to: English Department Head and Associate Head of School
Status: Full-time, temporary, 5-month faculty position
Westover School is a gender-inclusive girls boarding and day school for grades 9–12. Our community is built on close student–adult relationships, shared responsibility, and a deep belief that young people thrive when expectations are clear, care is consistent, and belonging is intentional.
Westover teachers are not only educators but mentors, advisors, and community members who contribute meaningfully to the academic and social life of the school.
Westover School seeks an English Substitute Teacher for a half-year appointment to provide continuity of instruction and student support during a faculty leave. The substitute teacher will assume responsibility for existing English courses, maintaining the established curriculum while fostering a classroom environment grounded in clarity, inclusion, and high expectations.
This role includes teaching responsibilities, collaboration with the English Department, communication with families, and participation in the broader faculty community during the term of the appointment.
Work is performed in classrooms and throughout campus. This is a temporary role requiring a consistent daytime presence and participation in faculty responsibilities during the school term.
This is a full-time, temporary faculty position for approximately five months. Compensation is commensurate with experience and prorated according to Westover’s faculty salary scale for the duration of the appointment.
