Rectory School is searching for an experienced, motivated, and passionate grade 4 classroom teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The grade 4 teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing the academic curriculum by embracing Rectory’s vision and utilizing current best practices in education; communicating with families about students’ progress; promoting equity and diversity; and supporting the mission of the school. The qualified candidate will possess a joyful spirit, strong pedagogical skills, deep content knowledge in literacy and numeracy, and a strong ability to establish a positive classroom culture where students do the work of the thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage children to question and explore the world in which they live.
  • Prepare weekly curriculum plans and experiences for your classroom, and make sure that they accurately reflect the school’s mission and philosophy.
  • Provide individualized, small, and large group instruction in order to support the diverse needs of each child.
  • Show strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, and an interest in working closely with other colleagues, as well as independently.
  • Develop and maintain communication and a positive relationship with parents.
  • Attend all faculty, family, and parent meetings as required.
  • Exhibit total commitment to maintaining high expectations for our children and the professional standards, policies, and procedures of Rectory School.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Master’s degree is desirable
  • Elementary teaching certification
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The grade 4 teacher reports to the Director of Elementary and will work closely with all other members of the Elementary team.
