Position: Director of Annual Giving
Reports to: Director of Advancement

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving serves as the strategic and operational leader of the Fund for Sacred Heart, the School's most important source of unrestricted support. This role is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive, year-round annual giving program that drives both participation and revenue growth across all key constituencies.

The Director will own the full lifecycle of the annual giving program – from strategy and segmentation to execution and analysis – while personally managing a portfolio of leadership prospects. This individual will lead the planning and cadence of all appeals, including GivingTuesday, Give from the Heart, and targeted micro-campaigns, and will play a central role in building a strong culture of philanthropy within the Sacred Heart Greenwich community. 

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and a willingness to execute at a high level. This role is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, serving as the primary driver of annual giving strategy and results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive annual giving strategy to achieve and exceed participation and revenue goals for the Fund for Sacred Heart
  • Establish the annual fundraising calendar, including all solicitations, giving days, and targeted campaigns, ensuring strategic pacing and donor engagement throughout the year
  • Partner with the Director of Advancement, the Director of Leadership Giving  and the Director of Alumnae Relations to align annual giving priorities with broader institutional and campaign goals
  • Analyze performance metrics and donor data to refine strategies, forecast outcomes, and drive continuous improvement
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership gift prospects through the donor life cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Conduct in-person and virtual solicitations, with a focus on upgrading donors and increasing multi-year commitments
  • Recruit, train, and manage a robust network of parent, alumnae, and community volunteers to support annual giving efforts
  • Partner closely with volunteer leadership to inspire peer-to-peer outreach and expand donor participation
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a strong pipeline from annual giving to major and planned giving
  • Oversee donor segmentation and the development of targeted messaging, including personalized ask strategies
  • Direct the creation of all annual giving collateral, including digital campaigns, direct mail, and impact reporting
  • Work closely with colleagues across Advancement, Communications, Admissions, and School leadership to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging
  • Contribute to a strong culture of philanthropy by helping articulate the impact of giving and engaging the broader community
  • Serve as a key liaison to alumnae and parent communities, working collaboratively with Advancement colleagues to maximize engagement
  • Utilize Raiser's Edge and other tools to develop data-driven strategies, including predictive ask amounts and donor segmentation
  • Monitor and report on progress toward goals, providing regular updates to leadership and volunteer partners
  • Oversee the annual giving budget, including forecasting, expense management, and vendor coordination
  • Manage relationships with external partners (print, digital, and creative) to ensure high-quality, cost-effective execution

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the Goals & Criteria of the Sacred Heart network
  • 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in an educational or mission-driven environment
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing an annual giving program, including direct solicitation experience
  • Proven ability to manage volunteers and inspire broad-based participation
  • Experience building and executing multi-channel fundraising campaigns (digital, direct mail, events)
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge (or comparable CRM), Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and to travel as needed
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
