We are seeking a highly organized, efficient professional with a strong accounting background who is capable of working in a dynamic environment to serve as the Director of Finance of our vibrant and growing organization, effective immediately.

Position

The Director of Finance will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Director of Finance will ensure that the school has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Director of Finance will work closely with administrators, staff and volunteers as well as communicate effectively with our parent body.

In addition, (s)he will partner with the Principal/Head of School, senior leadership, human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, development, HR, and IT functions.

Responsibilities :

  • Finance and Accounting Leadership
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activity.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist the school’s leadership in the annual budgeting and financial planning process.
  • Administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Oversee all payroll and accounting functions including financial, project/program and grants accounting; provide supporting financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Communicate with families regarding tuition balances and payment plans, scholarship applications and status. Work with the Financial Aid Committee to monitor applications in accordance with budget guidelines.
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Board and Finance committee.
  • Prepare staff contracts and termination paperwork per the instructions from the Head of School.
  • Address parent billing issues and questions.
  • Manage and supervise receivables and payables maximizing cash flow needs of school.
  • Supervise payroll function and review year end and quarterly reporting.
  • Manage staff attendance reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: College level accounting degree required, CPA preferred. 

Experience:  3+ years of financial management in organizational, corporate, or educational institutions. 

Other:  Knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets required.  Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge software platforms highly preferred.
