Kingswood Oxford School seeks an Associate Director of Admissions as a full-time, nonexempt, 12-month employee to start on July 1, 2026. The Associate Director works collaboratively within a five-member team and reports to the Director of Enrollment Management.

Located in West Hartford, Connecticut, Kingswood Oxford, familiarly KO, is a coeducational, college preparatory, independent day school for talented and motivated students in grades 6-12. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), KO values academic and

co-curricular excellence, as well as building meaningful relationships with students and their families. Committed to diversity and inclusion, 33 percent of KO’s student population are students of color.

Students represent over 60 towns in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. KO has welcomed international scholars from China, Thailand, Korea, Germany, Austria, and Poland. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency to support students and families from a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and talents. While additional duties may be assigned, the Associate Director will manage the key responsibilities and tasks below:

  • Guide prospective families through the application process, from inquiry to enrollment, including proactive outreach, interviewing, and reading This includes domestic 6-12 applicants and international applicants.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate with key internal departments to plan recruitment events, including but not limited to admissions workshops, fireside chats, and visit days.
  • Serve as DSO/PDSO and maintain SEVIS records, cultivate partnerships with host family placement agencies, oversee the host family community, and educate host parents on expectations, while partnering with the student life team on communications and processes to ensure students maintain their status with the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Act as a communication liaison with internal stakeholders on international student issues, serving as institutional support with Division Heads, Dean of Students, Form Deans, faculty, and advisors regarding institutional requirements, DHS integrity, and compliance for the school and the student. These include host family, address, attendance, and other aspects for KO international students and families. Additionally, serve on support teams for international student programming, transition, wellness, and academic needs.
  • Coordination with agencies and consultants regarding international applicants, completion of international applications, interviews, and review of international credentials and English Language Proficiency requirements required for a rigorous secondary school program.
  • Coordinate institutional requirements for host agencies and international student compliance as a secondary school with enrolled international students and international program for NEASC and CSIET requirements, including monthly visits, programming and student
  • Update and maintain the International Student and Parent Handbook to reflect changes in attendance policies, billing policies, payment options, health requirements, travel requirements, and other important aspects of the international student experience.
  • Create and maintain a database of partner agents and agent agreements who can coordinate and collaborate on a comprehensive communication plan and drip campaigns using a CRM that leverages data insights to stay current with evolving search behaviors.
  • Embrace a strategic communications lens to plan, implement, execute, and evaluate all touchpoints during the admissions cycle, including digital and traditional marketing collateral such as viewbooks, postcards, trifolds, brochures, newsletters, social media, and websites, as well as represent KO at area school fairs, valuable community events, and international fairs.
  • Bring a go-to-market mindset and strategy to all initiatives, identifying channels, audiences, and stories that most effectively communicate KO’s mission and value to prospective
  • Recommend and implement tools, partnerships, and opportunities that expand KO’s reach, increasing or maintaining local and international representation.

Qualifications

Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree. Ideal candidates will have international admissions experience, either at a college or independent school, a passion for fulfilling the mission of educational institutions, a deep understanding of best practices, and substantial experience working with admissions, enrollment, evaluation, and retention of students and families. A flexible mindset,

get-to-work attitude, and the ability to find humor in life would be valuable assets in our small but mighty Admissions and Enrollment department. Successful candidates will have a strong track record in the following competencies:

  • Experience and comfort with generative artificial intelligence, Ravenna, Blackbaud, Clarity and/or as a DSO preferred but not required.
