Upper School Chair of Performing Arts

Starting August 2026

Kingswood Oxford is seeking an Upper School Chair of Performing Arts who is passionate, innovative, and collaborative – an educator who models a growth mindset and is committed to equity-focused pedagogy. In addition to having a strong educational background and teaching experience in Performing Arts, successful candidates will be technologically savvy, have experience with curriculum design, and model best teaching practices. Candidates should also understand the importance of involvement in the community, student engagement and empowerment, ongoing professional development, and authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff to advance the school’s mission and strategic vision.

Curricularly, successful candidates should have a background in teaching Public Speaking and Acting. Successful candidates will integrate real-world applications, student choice, and community/industry connections to enhance their curriculum’s relevance and impact.

The position involves multiple parts:

• Chair the Upper School Performing Arts Department (theatre, music, dance)
• Teach 3 classes in Public Speaking and Acting
• Direct the Upper School musical in the winter season
• Oversee the Upper School after-school dance program in the fall
• Direct the Upper School fall theatre production
• Supervise and collaborate with the Technical Director to support all school productions, events, and assemblies
• Advise a small (6-8) group of students

The Director reports to the Head of the Upper School and works in close partnership with faculty across the arts and across the school’s divisions.
