Kingswood Oxford is seeking a Middle School English teacher who is passionate, innovative, and collaborative – an educator who models a growth mindset and is committed to equity-focused pedagogy.  Candidates should understand the Middle School child, the importance of involvement in the community, student engagement, empowerment, and authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff to advance the school’s mission and strategic vision.

Successful candidates will be:

  • Collaborative: Works well with colleagues, contributes actively to the team, and encourages growth in others’ practice.
  • Relationship-Oriented: Builds meaningful connections with students, enjoys being part of middle schoolers’ daily lives, recognizes their potential, and seeks to understand how they learn and thrive.
  • Curious: Demonstrates curiosity about their subject, their students, the world, and the craft of teaching and learning; approaches new ideas with openness and a spirit of exploration rather than judgment.
  • Self-Aware: Understands the impact they have in setting the tone of the classroom and engages in ongoing reflection and self-knowledge to foster equitable and inclusive learning communities.

 This teacher will implement units developed by the English Department and will teach two sections of Upper Prep English (Grade 6) and two sections of Form 2 English (Grade 8). In addition, they will serve as an advisor to a small group of Form 1 students and will play an active role in the daily life of the Middle School. The Middle School academic team will provide ample time and support to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
