Job Title: Physical Education Teacher

The Southport School (TSS) is currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year for a Physical Education Teacher to deliver instruction in the co-curricular program for all students in the area of Physical Education/PE. The ideal candidate will co-teach classes (21 PE class periods a week with a combined group size of students ranging from 14-24 students per class) that are focused on core development, skills, and team games. When not teaching those specific classes, the instructor will be assigned to other roles within the school (i.e., helping out or teaching in a class, substitute teaching, monitoring lunch and recesses, proctoring and helping in a study hall, etc.). Coaching of sports (cross country and basketball) is also required for this position. There are three coaching seasons, each of which will require approximately 1 day a week for practice (until 4:15 p.m.) and one day a week for games/meets (end time dependent of time/location) during the week. This position is full-time. Benefits are included.
A public passenger endorsement with an “A” endorsement is required for this job. Transporting students in a 15-passenger vehicle is required.

The ideal candidate must hold a valid teaching certification in PE. In addition, the candidate must be a good collaborator and creative educator who can engage students and can embrace the strengths, talents, and potential of students with language-based learning differences and ADHD.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with an after-school coaching schedule to be determined depending on the season
