Job Summary: The Student Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the student experience at South Kent School. This position is designed to enhance the overall student experience by ensuring efficient management of student records, travel, activities, and community engagement. The Coordinator will work closely with the Dean of Students Office and various departments to support student needs and foster a vibrant school community.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Student Travel Coordination:
- In Collaboration with the Form Deans, organize and manage all student travel, ensuring clear communication with families regarding scheduled school breaks and available transportation options.
- In collaboration with the Form Deans review and process all student travel requests in Orah, maintaining accurate records and compliance with school policies.
- Record Management:
- Assist in gathering and organizing student records necessary for the opening of the school year, including transcripts for incoming students and fulfilling requests for alumni transcripts.
- Process and communicate all necessary records for student withdrawals, encompassing medical, academic, and other relevant documentation.
- Attendance and Discipline Monitoring:
- Act as a secondary support to the Dean of Students Office and Form Deans in reviewing attendance records in Orah and/or Blackbaud to ensure data accuracy and adherence to procedures.
- Act as a secondary support to track and monitor disciplinary actions and responses in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office.
- Daily Operations Support:
- Serve as the Daily Point Person (DPP) by monitoring the DPP phone and managing the DPP bag during academic hours (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday).
- Prepare the DPP bag for pick-up by the evening DPP, ensuring all necessary materials are included.
- Open and distribute mail, handle general customer service requests, and greet visitors to maintain a welcoming environment.
- Answer the School’s Main Telephone number and direct calls appropriately.
- Student Activities Management:
- In coordination with the Dean of Residential Life, plan and manage student activities, including weekend outings, Welcome Weekend, and social events, coordinating transportation, driver assignments, and chaperone arrangements.
- Collaborate with Form Deans and Dean of Students Office to develop and execute engaging school events on and off campus.
- In collaboration with the Dean of Students Office, assess the effectiveness of activities and events, making recommendations for improvements based on feedback and observations.
- Assist with Club offerings each trimester based on student feedback; assist with faculty and staff assignments in leading club activities.
- Communication and Community Engagement:
- Create and distribute a weekly calendar outlining school activities, ensuring all community members are informed and engaged.
- Assist with driving schedules for regular activities, such as food runs and mall trips
- Additional Student-Facing Duties:
- Participate in evening and weekend events as required for student activities.
- Serve as a back-up for the Campus Jobs program.
- Serve as a back-up for formal meal supervision.
- Serve as an emergency back-up for an evening/weekend team.
- Be able to drive students by having a public passenger endorsement.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and boarding school experience preferred.
- A true enthusiasm for working with young people, and a desire to give them opportunities to be their best selves.
- High levels of self-awareness and a calm demeanor to navigate the complexities and ambiguities of managing challenging situations.
- Capacity to build strong relationships with students, families, and faculty.
- A superb communicator, both in writing and in verbal communications.
- Keen understanding of students’ developmental needs across age levels.
- A genuine interest in the personalities of students and a willingness to build relationships.
- Valid driver’s license.

Compensation:
Compensation is competitive and includes meals when school is in session. Health and retirement benefits, including TIAA-CREF, are part of the compensation package.
