Preschool Assistant Teacher

Position Overview

Landmark Preschool is seeking a warm, flexible, and enthusiastic full-time Assistant Teacher to join our Westport, CT campus. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with young children, demonstrate a positive attitude, and be eager to contribute to a collaborative and nurturing classroom environment.

In this role, the Assistant Teacher will support the Head Teacher by implementing age-appropriate activities and lesson plans for students in our Two’s, Three’s, or Four’s program. The Assistant Teacher may also serve as a substitute for the Head Teacher when needed. This is a salaried, academic-year position with a Monday through Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head Teacher by implementing classroom activities that promote early childhood development
• Prepare classroom materials and assist with activity setup and cleanup
• Model positive behavior and use appropriate, encouraging language and discipline strategies
• Actively engage in large- and small-group activities and assist during special classes
• Lead students through both structured learning and play
• Ensure student safety at all times, indoors and outdoors
• Supervise children during recess and transitions
• Maintain confidentiality of student and family information
• Refer parent questions regarding students to the Head Teacher
• Follow Landmark Preschool’s policies, procedures, and daily routines

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Associate’s Degree or CDA considered)
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with young children (classroom experience preferred)
• Ability to actively move and participate in a preschool setting (bending, kneeling, stretching required)
• Comfort with technology; experience with Microsoft Office Suite a plus
• Kind, dependable, and team-oriented
