Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician provides assistance with the planning and implementation of maintenance, construction, and renovation activities necessary to maintain the buildings and grounds in excellent repair and condition. This role is also responsible for performing any combination of maintenance (preventative and routine) and repair duties to maintain the facilities and grounds in a clean and orderly manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of maintenance and grounds work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, and repair of the facilities.
  • Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity.
  • Responds to assigned work orders from Plant Manager or Facilities Admin regarding plumbing problems, damage to buildings and grounds, and other facility problems; explains findings to Plant Manager.
  • Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use. Report to the Plant Manager any issues or concerns.
  • Drives vehicles of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, and sand.
  • Operates light and medium sized construction and power equipment.
  • Performs required labor involved in renovation, repair, and construction projects.
  • Ensures all codes are implemented in the completion of maintenance and repairs.
  • Complies with school Safety Manual Rules and Regulations and satisfies OSHA requirements.
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, pictures, or word descriptions to fabricate a wide variety of wood projects, as needed.
  • Operates, inspects and conducts regular maintenance and minor repairs to vehicles, buses and grounds equipment.
  • Perform thorough, daily maintenance on machinery and vehicles.
  • Maintains inventory in supply room. Orders and dispenses all maintenance supplies.
  • Performs heavy labor and general maintenance tasks.
  • Performs carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, welding, and other trades as directed.
  • Obtain certifications as required to support the needs of the school.
  • Adherence to attendance policies.
  • Attendance of training sessions on new technology as it becomes available.
  • All other duties assigned by administration and the needs of the school.

 

Requirements:

  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a minimum of four years of experience in building and grounds maintenance work or three years’ experience as a journeyman in a specific technical trade.
  • Must possess considerable knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities.
  • Must be able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
  • Valid Driver’s license.

Compensation:
