Photography Teacher

The Williams School - New London, CT
Full-time
Application Deadline: N/A

The Williams School Arts Department seeks a full-time Photography teacher for the 2025-2026 academic
year. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach in both the Middle and Upper Schools. The
position requires skill in fostering active and interactive learning to engage students fully in an
introduction to photography through the portfolio process. In addition, this position will serve as the
yearbook advisor. Applicants must be enthusiastic and energetic and be willing to teach as a member of a
team in conjunction with other department members. The faculty role engages fully in the life of the
school as an advisor, club leader, and committee member. An undergraduate degree in the Arts is
required. Previous experience teaching in an independent school setting is preferred.

In 2014, Williams moved beyond the AP model to offer self-developed advanced courses in all
disciplines. In the 2022-2023 academic year, two distinct opportunities began for students to take their
learning to a higher level of engagement with greater academic maturity. Four certificate programs:
Environmental Sustainability, Global Perspectives, Humanities, and STEM were introduced for students
to engage in over the course of their sophomore through senior years. Students complete a research and/or
professional exploration component and present their certificate work to a committee. In addition, the
College Acceleration Program offers juniors and seniors a full semester of college courses and
corresponding credits. Over the course of their junior and senior years, students will take courses at
Williams plus one course per semester at Connecticut College. By graduation, students successfully
completing the program will gain a transcript from Connecticut College alongside their Williams diploma.

How To Apply:

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and educational philosophy to Mrs. Chelsea
Rallis (Director of the Upper School Teaching and Learning) at [email protected]. Please no
phone inquiries.
