Computer Science/Informatics Faculty Position: 

Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a qualified teacher, preferably with experience in an independent secondary school setting, to teach computer science at both the Advanced Placement® and entry levels, with the collaboration and supervision of the Chair of the Mathematics and Informatics Department. This position welcomes candidates at the part-time or full-time levels. Courses for this position include but may not be limited to Foundations of Computer Science - exploring hardware and software, Programming Application & Design, AP® Computer Science A and AP® Computer Science Principles, and Robotics.,  An undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field is necessary. In addition, the school seeks a candidate who has knowledge and experience in using educational technology in the classroom. ClearTouch Technology is utilized to facilitate multimodal instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in: 

  • teaching of Collegeboard AP® Computer Science A and AP® Computer Science Principles
  • the integration of technology into classroom instruction
  • Data Abstraction, Binary, and a working understanding of the processes of the Internet
  • PC maintenance and 21st Century security
  • HTML and CSS web design
  • scripting code in several languages and design environments including: Python, Java, and JavaScript
  • develop working iOS apps

In addition, the full-time position includes advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, and involvement in residential life, understanding that the typical commitment involves both after-school activities and weeknight-weekend supervision.  

All teacher candidates are expected to have either experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework. Preferred candidates must enjoy working with adolescents, have an ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum, and understand student learning styles and differentiated instruction.
