The Associate Teacher Role: Position Summary and Responsibilities

Associate Teachers will:

• Work directly with students in small and whole group academic settings
• Participate in the planning and implementation of instruction across content areas
• Be prepared for their lessons
• Collaborate with Head Teacher to analyze student growth and adjust instruction accordingly
• Support Head Teacher in providing individualized feedback on student work
• Implement differentiated instruction methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Provide student support during independent work time
• Assist with classroom routines and organization, including materials management
• Document student growth
• Manage transitions between classes
• Supervise children during outdoor play
• Develop strong and meaningful relationships with students and their families
• Facilitate the restorative justice approach for student conflict
• Communicate regularly with Head Teachers
• Model positive behaviors and language
• Lead extended day programming
• Be open to and regularly seek out feedback from Head Teachers and colleagues

Other responsibilities:

• Assist Head Teachers in facilitating academic assessments
• Collaborate with Head Teacher in preparing and writing progress reports
• Serve as the Head Teacher in the event of a HT absence
