Position Summary: 

Kent School seeks a passionate and energetic Systems Administrator whose primary responsibility will be supporting the school's technology platforms and infrastructure. This role has two main areas of focus: administering hardware, systems and software used by the Technology and Campus Safety Departments and providing support as a member of the help desk team. 

Technology:

  • Working closely with our Managed Services Provider (MSP) and IT Manager to oversee school’s MDM solutions (Intune and Kanji) to deploy, configure and maintain (including patching) employee computers, iPads, and loaner fleet.
  • Manage deployment, updates and licensing for Adobe, Zoom, SecureW2 and other school-wide applications.
  • Support campus operations software such as Square and Pitney Bowes. 
  • Assist Director of Technology with management of School’s cybersecurity platforms: Arctic Wolf, SentinelOne, Virtru, Wizer, Redsift, Keeper.
  • Co-Lead community cybersecurity efforts and assist with periodic training of faculty/staff on best practices.
  • Collaborate with other team members with administration of Google Suite for Education.
  • Assist help desk team with inventory.
  • Participate in department wide projects and attend regular department meetings.
  • Provide technology support and service to all school constituents on any and all technology-related issues.
  • Support help desk team with managing printing (PaperCut, Xerox and HP drivers).

Campus Safety and Emergency Response:

  • Manage and maintain systems supporting campus safety and emergency management, including Alertus (MNS), RS2 Access-it (Access Control), Wisenet Wave (cameras), and SchoolPass visitor management.
  • Provide hardware support for door locks, cameras, notification speakers and devices.
  • Train Campus Safety, Dean's Office and other departments to ensure efficient operation of safety systems.
  • Serve as department liaison to help craft the campus safety vision with the Dean's Office, Campus Safety and Facilities team.
  • Maintain and upgrade security infrastructure including cameras, access control and license plate reading systems.
  • Assist with cloud-based VoIP administration and campus-wide emergency notification systems.
  • Collaborate with and actively support Campus Safety on all safety-related drills and testing procedures.

Qualifications:       

The ideal candidate will be an emerging technology professional with at least three (3) years experience as a Systems Administrator. Configuring, maintaining and updating systems and devices, as well as serving as a Google Workspace for Education Administrator in an enterprise or primary/secondary education environment. 

  • A willingness to learn new skills and collaborate with team members.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in deploying, managing and maintaining Windows and Apple devices, configuring and implementing SAML SSO, and MFA deployment, and endpoint management (Kandji or other, Intune, MDMs).
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, certificates, scripting, and group policy.
  • Proficiency with Mac OS, Windows, Microsoft 365, Google Apps, Zoom, VOIP systems, Classlink, and Adobe suite.
  • Familiarity with NIST or CIS framework.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and work discreetly with sensitive information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment and travel between multiple buildings.
  • Requires substantial movement (motions) of wrists, hands, and fingers with keyboard use.
  • Ability to use a visual display.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 40 lbs. without assistance.

Additional Requirements:

  • Occasional driving may be required; qualified candidates should have reliable transportation and a driver's license. 
  • Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check, and drug test.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
