Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school serving preschool through grade eight students, currently seeks an experienced educator to fill the full-time position of Renbrook PLUS Director.

The Renbrook PLUS Director reports to the Associate Head of School and is responsible for all aspects of Renbrook School’s before and after school programs, Vacation Care, and After-School Adventures Programs. The Renbrook PLUS Director hires, develops, and manages teachers and a part-time administrative assistant. They also manage programing as well as children and families, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. The Renbrook PLUS Director must possess the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out Renbrook School's mission and vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Operations

  • develops academic year calendar
  • collaborates w/CFO (pricing & vendor onboarding)
  • drafts proposed annual budget for program
  • manages approved annual budget
  • hires R+ teachers
  • solicits Adventure instructors

Team Supervisor

  • supervises R+ teachers, admin assistant, & activity developer
  • conducts training & encourage PD for R+ teachers
  • coaches R+ teachers in effective parental communication
  • provides frequent positive feedback
  • oversees “Student Leaders” program

Daily Operations

  • conducts daily team meetings to discuss schedule & activities of the day
  • provides a daily plan via text to all R+ teachers
  • coordinates & supervises the daily 4pm dismissal
  • inventories materials, supplies, & snacks
  • daily end of day walkthrough
  • provides administrative assistant daily teacher hours

Behavior Management

  • trains R+ teachers in behavior management
  • coaches R+ teachers in the area of behavior management
  • maintains communication and collaboration w/ R+ teachers of rundown of daily behavior challenges & wins

Communication

  • interacts w/ families, on a daily basis, through greetings/goodbyes
  • writes/meets with families regarding behavior and problem solving
  • communicates clearly and effectively with teachers in writing and in person

Collaborates w/ Division Heads

  • develops a collaborative relationship with Division Heads
  • cc’s Division Heads on all family behavior and problem-solving communication

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & DISPOSITIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (master’s degree preferred)
  2. A minimum of five years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in a school or after-school setting, including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision-making ability.
  3. Exceptional organizational, group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  4. Positivity and flexibility in adapting to changing circumstances.
