Position Overview:
The Master’s School, a private Christian school, is seeking a middle and high school math teacher to teach, plan, implement, and guide effective classroom learning in a designated selection of Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics and other math courses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Education with a Math focus or related field
- Current teaching license and/or Association of Christian School International (ACSI) certification a plus
- Successful experience teaching and coordinating effective and guided learning for students
- Administrative and organizational experience
- Strong communication skills

Responsibilities:
- Instruction
- Effectively plan and facilitate a comprehensive math curriculum for students in grades 6 - 12
- Create and implement effective instructional methods according to individual student needs and developmental stages
- Maintain a clear scope and sequence
- Set appropriate and meaningful student learning goals
- Engage students in the learning process
- Utilize frequent assessments to guide learning and provide meaningful feedback
- Effectively integrate educational technology with relevant learning experiences
- Planning and Preparation
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of Math content as well as associated pedagogy at the high school level
- Demonstrate knowledge of student development and associated applications
- Prepare appropriate instructional outcomes for individual learners within a college preparatory environment
- Prepare and present effective, engaging, standards-based units and lessons
- Classroom Environment
- Create an environment of respect and rapport
- Seek to cultivate a culture for learning
- Effectively manage appropriate classroom procedures and behaviors
- Professional Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Middle and Upper School to utilize age-appropriate curricula and instructional technologies that support the diverse learning needs of students
- Contribute to School curriculum, assessment, and program development as needed by administration
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance
- Promote effective communication and feedback with students and families
- Participate in an active, growing professional community
- Fully support the Statement of Faith of The Master’s School and annually sign a statement of affirmation regarding Guidelines for Service at The Master’s School
- Attend and participate in morning devotions and weekly faculty meetings
- Serve as crew and club advisor, participate in student and Spiritual Life events, chaperone Upper School events including retreats and class trips as requested by administration
- Participate in scheduled evening school-related events as necessary
- Fulfill summer faculty assignments as applicable and participate in professional development programs

The Master's School is a non-denominational, Christian, college-preparatory day school enrolling boys and girls in preschool through grade 12. The school has three sections: Lower (preschool - grade 5), Middle (grades 6-8), and Upper (grades 9-12). The school is located on a beautifully wooded 76-acre, 11-building campus with three athletic fields in West Simsbury. The school serves families from more than 40 towns throughout the central Connecticut and southwestern Massachusetts areas.
Founded in 1970, The Master's School is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International. Enrollment typically is around 200 students, with classes averaging 15 students.
