The Early Childhood Division at Country School serves children in Grades Beginners through Kindergarten. About the Kindergarten Assistant Teacher Position

The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher serves as a member of our Early Childhood School faculty. Our Early Childhood teachers are experienced, dynamic and possess a strong sense of pedagogy. They demonstrate a commitment to bringing out the best in each student and ensure that each child is known, seen, loved and valued.  The Kindergarten Assistant supports three Kindergarten classrooms, ensuring a seamless learning environment for students and teachers. This individual will provide instructional, logistical, and social-emotional support throughout the day, adapting to the needs of each classroom while fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere for young learners. This position is for the 2025–2026 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the lead teacher
  • Attend, participate and contribute at weekly grade level team meetings, Divisional Meetings and Wednesday Professional Development Sessions
  • Prepare and organize materials for lessons, centers and activities
  •  Support the lead teacher in maintaining a clean and inviting classroom to serve as the child’s third teacher
  • Support children in developing independence, social-emotional skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Communicate regularly with lead teachers to stay informed about classroom priorities
  • Assist with documentation, observations and record-keeping as needed

Requirements

  • Understanding of the social, emotional and academic needs of students and the ability to connect with students at this age level
  • A solid understanding of pedagogy and classroom management skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues to support student growth
  • Relevant experience teaching the age group
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
