Biology Faculty Position:
Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a qualified candidate with a degree in Biology or closely related field, preferably with experience in an independent secondary school setting, to teach Biology and/or Human Biology at the Advanced Placement®, honors, and entry levels, with the collaboration and supervision of the Chair of the Science Department. Candidates experienced in field of Health Science, i.e. Etiology, Practicum Health, Anatomy, are also encouraged to apply. The science department offerings are built around a three-year sequential core program of Conceptual Physics, Chemistry, and Biology that leads to AP® course offerings in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. All teacher candidates are expected to have either experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework. Preferred candidates must enjoy working with adolescents, have an ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum, and understand student learning styles and differentiated instruction.
In addition, the full-time position includes: advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, and involvement in residential life —understanding that the typical commitment involves both after school activities and weeknight-weekend supervision.
