Biology Faculty 2025-2026 School Year

The mission of Marianapolis Preparatory School is to educate students in the Catholic tradition of academic excellence with a commitment to an active faith in God and a dedication to building character with content, compassion, and integrity.

Biology Faculty Position:
Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a qualified candidate with a degree in Biology or closely related field, preferably with experience in an independent secondary school setting, to teach Biology and/or Human Biology at the Advanced Placement®, honors, and entry levels, with the collaboration and supervision of the Chair of the Science Department. Candidates experienced in field of Health Science, i.e. Etiology, Practicum Health, Anatomy, are also encouraged to apply. The science department offerings are built around a three-year sequential core program of Conceptual Physics, Chemistry, and Biology that leads to AP® course offerings in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. ClearTouch Technology is utilized to facilitate the synchronous learning experience. Preference will be given to candidates and who have expertise in:

• excellent oral and written communication skills
• the ability to balance the normal demands of a wide range of responsibilities
• conducting inquiry based lab activities and lessons based on science teaching methodology
• experience in using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technology, to increase student confidence and learning

All teacher candidates are expected to have either experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework. Preferred candidates must enjoy working with adolescents, have an ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum, and understand student learning styles and differentiated instruction.

In addition, the full-time position includes: advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, and involvement in residential life —understanding that the typical commitment involves both after school activities and weeknight-weekend supervision.
