Marvelwood School is seeking a high school Filmmaking and Photography teacher for a full-time position starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will join an exceptional team of teachers and work with students in grades 9-12, teaching Visual Arts classes in photography, filmmaking, graphic design, and virtual reality, and organizing/leading production of the school’s yearbook. We seek creative and energetic candidates who will value the opportunity to commit fully to the academic, social, and emotional support and development of teenagers and who possess the necessary technical skills to appropriately and effectively integrate technology, hands-on learning, student collaboration, and online resources into their teaching. Most desirable are candidates who will participate eagerly in the broader life of the School by contributing to the school’s slate of athletics and extracurriculars as well as residential life programming. Qualified candidates for this position should have a Bachelor’s degree and preferably at least two years of secondary teaching experience in the Visual Arts. A working knowledge of core software including the full Adobe Creative suite, Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, Camera Raw, Premiere, InDesign and eDesign is important; experience with Blender (for VR), animation, laser engraving, and/or drones is also desirable. Duties of a full-time faculty member include, but are not limited to: teaching 4-5 classes, advising, weekly community service, evening dorm duty and monthly weekend duty, and two seasons of involvement in after-school arts or athletics programming. Candidates must be able to obtain a passenger endorsement on their driver's license in order to transport students.
