Position Summary 

In cooperation with the Administrative Team, the Art Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing the school’s Art curriculum for K-6 in accordance with the School’s mission, goals, objectives, and philosophy of learning. As a key member of the Performing Arts Team, the Art Teacher collaborates with colleagues across disciplines, supporting special productions, presentations, and events.

 

Advanced Degree (MA/MS preferred) in Art Education 

Minimum 3-5 years experience teaching students in grades K-6 

Experience creating hands-on, developmentally appropriate art curriculum 

Strong personal and interpersonal skills 

 

Responsibilities

 

• Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate art lessons that emphasize experimentation, the artistic process, and elements of art. 

 

• Teach various art techniques, including but not limited to drawing, painting (watercolor, acrylic, tempera), printmaking, sculpture (clay, paper mache, found objects), collage, and mixed media.

 

• In collaboration with students, design costumes, props, and scenery for all plays, performances, and presentations.

 

• Serve as a resource to enhance the instructional program and school-wide events.

 

• Collaborate in the planning, organization, and execution of the annual Arts Week events.

 

• Participate in all school events.
