The Southport School (TSS), located in historic Southport Village, was founded in 1984 and serves up to 125 students with language-based learning differences like dyslexia and attention issues like ADHD. Position Overview
TSS is seeking a full-time Associate Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The Associate Teacher will work alongside and learn from veteran faculty and experienced mentors. The position provides training and experience for those interested in becoming lead teachers to work with this student population. This role is designed for people seeking to educate students with language-based learning differences.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting lead teachers with planning and providing individualized instruction in various academic areas.
Attending training workshops, faculty in-service, and staff meetings and will be trained in the following (contingent upon time of hire):
Participating in co-curricular programs, activities, and duties as assigned.
Substituting and assuming the role of a teacher should there be a leave of absence.
Job Skills & Qualification
The ideal candidate holds certification in special education, elementary, or a specific content area. In addition, the candidate must be a good collaborator and creative educator who can engage students using multimodal instruction and teaching approaches that embrace the strengths, talents, and potential of students with language-based learning differences and attention issues. This role requires a creative thinker with excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills and a passion for enhancing the student experience.
