The mission of Talcott Mountain Science Center & Academy is inspiring today’s children to invent tomorrow. Our organization is seeking energetic, creative and motivated Summer Program Instructors for summer employment in a dynamic, team-based environment.

 

In this role, the primary responsibility is delivering innovative, hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for K-2, 3-5 or 6-8 grade students at Talcott Mountain Science Center. Programs are one week in length, running from June 23 through August 15, 2025.

 

Topics with instructor openings for Summer 2025 include: SPIKE Prime Robotics, 3D Printing, Arduino Engineering, LEGO Science, Kid Coding, Creative Coding, Raspberry Pi, Game Design, AI: Friend or Foe?, Earth Explorers, and Creepy Crawlies.

 

Instruction will include classroom, lab, and field settings on campus and field trips for certain courses. In addition to instructional duties, this role also includes bus duty and encompasses student supervision for campus-wide activities, games, contests & presentations, and lunch & recess periods. Participation in regular staff meetings will also be required.

 

The successful candidate will be an innovative and inspiring teacher with passion and expertise in one or more of the above topics. In addition to at least a high school diploma or a degree in a related field, the successful candidate will possess solid classroom, group instruction, and/or outreach experience. Teaching certification is not required. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation, and successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check.
