Responsibilities
Teach a class of students including all elements of instructional planning, implementation and assessment
Encourage independence, decision-making and problem-solving
Engage in positive discipline, setting clear expectations and appropriate consequences that support the development of the whole child
Observe, record and document the growth and development of children through the established evaluation tool, anecdotal observations and portfolio development
Collaborate and maintain open communication with a co-teacher and appropriate staff members regarding issues that pertain to the well-being of children and families
Complete report cards and other forms of academic communication in a timely, professional manner
Pursue opportunities for professional growth on an annual basis
Attend regular staff meetings and professional development workshops
Perform other duties as assigned
